Puer woodblock print

Amazingly beautiful woodblock print on a Sheng PuEr tea wrapper. I like how the tea leaves changed the color of paper around the picture in 8 years.

Design Marathon (Day 25) – AQI 500 in China

Air pollution went off the scale recently in China, couple of days back the Air Quality Index hit 500 and Chinese media found 5 benefits of the smog:

1. It unifies the Chinese people.
2. It makes China more equal.
3. It raises citizen awareness of the cost of China’s economic development.
4. It makes people funnier.
5. It makes people more knowledgeable (of things like meteorology and the English word haze).

The 6th probably will be – it motivates you to design stuff. Illustrated this today afternoon.

Suzhou, Lion Grove Garden – 苏州狮子林

Of all the famous rock-gardens in history, only one has survived. This is the so-called “Lion Garden” in SuZhou. The Lion Grove Garden was built in 1342 during the Yuan Dynasty by a Zen Buddhist monk, Wen Tianru, in memory of his teacher Abbot Zhongfeng. At that time the garden was part of the Bodhi Orthodox Monastery.

Here are some shots I made during a short trip to Suzhou recently.
