Bobson – print ad

Here’s a nice one from the time when I was with ManghamGaxiola. We were working on Bobson account back then – an Okayama based company back from 1940, famous for manufacturing high quality denim with insane attention to detail. Japanese jeans. I’m serious, Google this stuff.

So how to show pure Japanese denim?

We also made a bunch of different scenarios later on. It’s cool and all, but the geisha one is my favorite. It’s a pity the ad never saw the light.

Oh, yeah, don’t mind the Japanese Lorem Ipsum up there around the border.

DataX2 – print ad

Here’s a print ad we made back at Ogilvy. Singtel was about to launch a DataX2 plan, where with a nominal fee you could double up your mobile data. During our research we looked into old boxing posters for some inspiration and came up with this idea – The Fight For Your Data Stops With DataX2.

Agency: Ogilvy and Mather
Creative Director/Copywriter: Stephen Kyriakou
Art Director: Andrey Danilov

There’s been an awakening

Continuing my series of different types of movie vehicles with this print. The rest can be viewed here.

process

My process for this type of illustration is quite straightforward: sketching on paper and defining the composition, creating basic shapes in Illustrator, weathering done in Photoshop using the Force and some custom brushes.

Clara Clayton Canyon

The second print from the series goes to the iconic DeLorean and BTTF3. Still experimenting with this style, but already liking the results I can get simply by adding a little bit of rough texture to the silky smooth vector.

Above is my design process from start to finish.

Puer woodblock print

Amazingly beautiful woodblock print on a Sheng PuEr tea wrapper. I like how the tea leaves changed the color of paper around the picture in 8 years.
