A while ago I was working on a logo for Gili Portal, an incredibly talented uprising singer. Just as Gili’s voice is beautiful in both Hebrew and English, so as the logo is readable in both…
Vyaz is a traditional Russian calligraphy style originated around XV century. Here’s a small piece I did recently. Some of my Russian followers probably would recognize the word “Жарптица” (Phoenix) in there.
Getting my hands dirty and diving into the unknown world of hand lettering. Stay tuned for more type studies.
Recently we’ve been working on a logo for an Indonesian restaurant chain. Bon Chef is a family restaurant, where people come to enjoy home-style food in a cozy atmosphere. To convey that feeling, we decided to go with a heart-warming hand lettered logo.
After ruining a stack of paper, I jumped into illustrator and placed those bezier points in the right spots.
Bon Chef note pad.
Below are the initial logo sketches I made in search of the right treatment.

I believe I’ve landed my dream project. What can be cooler than developing a logo for a surf company, especially if you find this lines in the brief:
Icon that I thought might work is abstract hardcore angel, abstract waves, yin/yang…
I totally fell in love with the whole concept behind the brand, just read this:
I realised that in South America there is such a love for surfing, but most people can not afford a surfboard or take part in competitions, yet they never complain, and love life no matter what, even if 5 people share one board, also countries like Venezuela, Argentina and Costa Rica, have some amazing surfers yet they dont get exposure as with countries like USA, SA, AUS and Europe, I wanted to create a brand that would sort of rebel against the well know leader markets..
I want people to feel like they can associate with the brand and that the brand has its roots in what matters the most, loving the surf and being stoked about life.
Let’s look closer at our logo.
As far as Instigar is an Asian-based company, we wanted the logo to contain some Asian feeling, that is why we decided to use some elements of Chinese calligraphy in the type, just to give a slight hint.
Below are hidden elements in the logo:
Photo made by my dad.
Love playing with ink. Hera are some of the concept logos that I think are worth mentioning:
I did try to make a hardcore surf angel though…
The idea with fingerprint developed from here.
Hand lettering in progress.
Can’t believe 2013 is almost over. What a crazy year, so many things have happened, so many great projects accomplished. Here is my small gift to all of my followers. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year good people!
Hand lettered with love.
Year 2014 should be even more exciting.
Shazam! I’m happy to announce the new project we made in collaboration with Muei san. Deeply inspired by the works of Switzerland sculptor Markus Raetz we decided to erase a very solid boundary between Eastern and Western typography.
For this project we tried a lot of innovative media that we never used before. Everything started in MAYA software (a very big thanks to Sanzhar Murzin who helped us to revise my Google SketchUp attempts, make sure to check out his personal website sanjmur.com it’s going to be up and running pretty soon), later on we continued with a 3D printing, after the 3D form was ready we went on and made a quick photo shooting and proceeded to photo editing. Alongside with photos a various types of visual identity has been created including business cards, posters, letter samples and a short video.
