Recently we’ve been working on a logo for an Indonesian restaurant chain. Bon Chef is a family restaurant, where people come to enjoy home-style food in a cozy atmosphere. To convey that feeling, we decided to go with a heart-warming hand lettered logo.
After ruining a stack of paper, I jumped into illustrator and placed those bezier points in the right spots.
Bon Chef note pad.
Below are the initial logo sketches I made in search of the right treatment.
Agency: Mangham Gaxiola
Creative Director: Robert Gaxiola

The second print from the series goes to the iconic DeLorean and BTTF3. Still experimenting with this style, but already liking the results I can get simply by adding a little bit of rough texture to the silky smooth vector.
Above is my design process from start to finish.
Took me a while to upload this small piece here. I was really into the works of super talented and mysterious SilenceTV for the last couple of months. The amount of details he is putting in his art is incredible. We even ordered a couple of his large format posters (here) to investigate how he does his magic.
Here is a poster I created around Brazil World Cup 2014. Below you will also find a small video that I put together to show you the whole process from start to finish.
After creating a logo for Capoeira Hangzhou, I was approached by Praxis Martial Arts instructor to design a new visual identity for his group. The group doesn’t practice any specific kind of martial art. That’s why they wanted something more abstract.
In search of the right feeling I rewatched the movie Grandmaster for the 5th time. After that I started to shape the figure.
Here is a Polaroid shot made by Katya during my creative process.
I believe I’ve landed my dream project. What can be cooler than developing a logo for a surf company, especially if you find this lines in the brief:
Icon that I thought might work is abstract hardcore angel, abstract waves, yin/yang…
I totally fell in love with the whole concept behind the brand, just read this:
I realised that in South America there is such a love for surfing, but most people can not afford a surfboard or take part in competitions, yet they never complain, and love life no matter what, even if 5 people share one board, also countries like Venezuela, Argentina and Costa Rica, have some amazing surfers yet they dont get exposure as with countries like USA, SA, AUS and Europe, I wanted to create a brand that would sort of rebel against the well know leader markets..
I want people to feel like they can associate with the brand and that the brand has its roots in what matters the most, loving the surf and being stoked about life.
Let’s look closer at our logo.
As far as Instigar is an Asian-based company, we wanted the logo to contain some Asian feeling, that is why we decided to use some elements of Chinese calligraphy in the type, just to give a slight hint.
Below are hidden elements in the logo:
Photo made by my dad.
Love playing with ink. Hera are some of the concept logos that I think are worth mentioning:
I did try to make a hardcore surf angel though…
The idea with fingerprint developed from here.
Hand lettering in progress.
The first project of 2014 goes to Gravity! Here is an alternative poster for the movie, which I liked so much. This time I decided to leave the idea pretty simple and work a lot on the details, as you can see on a close up shots below. Took me about 1 week to finish.

Super rough, quick ideas on paper.
This iOS app design is a part of my graduations project at China Academy of Art. Below is a short video that I put together to explain the main functions.
View landing page
Inspired by the minimal, slick design of Dieter Rams, my app is designed to tell you whether or not you will need an umbrella today.
There are many apps which will tell you the precise temperature with up to the minute accuracy. However, for most of us the only thing we need to know is whether to take an umbrella today.
For more relevant weather reports, swipe your finger across the upper and lower sections of your screen, revealing the temperature and wind speed for today.
From the very beginning I was into skeuomorphic design. I love the way old Apps were made, they look almost tangible and real.
Landing page is available at andreydanilov.com/zontik/ Sorry, but the App itself is for Chinese App Store only.
App icon stickers which I gave away at my stand during the exhibition.
Here is a process of app development from sketches to a live experience.

Huge shoutout to my buddy Allen, who helped me to develop the App and put it on the Appstore. 谢谢你!

Somehow this very important project has vanished when I redesigned my website, well it gave me a chance to make an even better walkthrough, enjoy.
My capoeira camarada – Paulo runs Qualita company in Hanzgou, China. With a help of his colleges he assists small companies in doing safe business with Chinese suppliers and factories. I was in charge of the design department.
My client was talking to his business partners and said:
“We need a professional logo like Qualita’s logo: STRONG, SIMPLE, GOOD LOOKING, SOLID, NEW/NOT OLD. Paulo, how did you get such a good logo ?”
Here is how.
Qualita business card with a glossy finishing. Less is more.
Now for the very first time I’m revealing a secret behind the STRONG “Q”. I was looking through many fonts and tried to find the one that suits best for the task, however all of them just didn’t feel right… then I decided to take a break and watch a movie.
Yes, Qulita’s logo was developed around the Terminator font. I tweaked the letter “Q” a bit and made the symbol more balanced.
Super SOLID look was achieved by applying the Golden Ration rule to business card layout design. Instant impression for potential clients: “We Rock!”
To tell you the truth I was really into another idea on the early stages of the project, let me explain:
This GIF below makes me so tranquil, I can watch it all day. AaaarrghHH! Pipe all hands on deck!! Arrrghh!
After that crazy idea was shelved we started developing the Qualita Store.
A very first design doodle of the “Qualita store”.
Bells and whistles.
